Well, if anyone remembers, I went through this same deal as well a few
weeks ago with my gerbil.  American Airlines does not allow gerbils in
the cabin.  I heard from a few members on this list that Delta has
allowed it, but I think a fee is involved.

I wouldn't suggest putting your gerbils in cargo.  It's hot, noisy and
just all around uncomfortable.  If that only leaves sneaking, then so be
it.  I remember the "inventive 10 year old" too.  I was one at age nine
(which wasn't very long ago), as well.

Due to the difficulty of transporting gerbils (by air), I ended up
leaving my gerbil home with a friend while I'm away on vacation.
