I know I shouldn't have so I don't need any of that
kind of after the fact advice...
I just can't believe I did it.
I bought a Guinea Pig.
I must be insane.
But what's worse???
I bought, for a much reduced price, four gerbils who
had been recently brought in to the pet store by
someone who just sort of abandoned them. One of which
is obviously pregnant, and another who may be.
No one would have bought these poor little guys. Their
tails were almost furless, probably from overcrowding
which can lead to tail chewing, and possibly from poor
nutrition due to overcrowding. AND, the white ones
were obviously allergic to the bedding. They are
tinged a very pale creamy orange... Barely visible, so
I will have to wait and see if it is fur staining or
some color I have only encountered online. One of them
had a bloody tail and bloody sore nose.
I put them in corn cob bedding and gave them unscented
white paper towels to shred. Gave them fresh fod, and
water and an excercise wheel which the pregnant gerbil
uses more than anyone. I got them last night around
6:00 pm and already they have improved so much. I am
putting some neosporin on the one with the messed up
nose. The one with the bleeding tail has already
cleaned herself up and I can no longer tell which one
she was.
I took some pics last night and will take some when
they are better and create a page on my site about it.
Three are white females, possibly PEW. And one , a
male, is possibly lighter gray than Sage, my gerbil
that I have been calling dove color but am now not
certain about. Or he may be the same color as Sage.
anyway, thats about it on that for now...
But I must be crazy...
Or maybe I just knew what I was getting into and
thought I could handle it,
Well the gerbils are much better,
so maybe I can.
Thanks for providing a listening ear,
Jade
