The only reason I'd like to make certain is it would help me fill in
the parents genetics. It would be nice to know that they both carry a
gg. I'm also just interested in the subtle differences some genes can
make in a particular color. I don't suppose anyone has ever had a
black/slate gerbil that they knew had the Cch gene?

I have managed to get a rather good true to color photo on our cheap
digital camera, though it is a bit blurry cuz pups don't like to stay
still. :)

I've also taken a closer look at her toenails - they seem to be a
light brown color. Would this account for the possible Cch or is this
a more common characteristic of Slate?

I took a look at the pics you have. Though she is not as light as a
few of those pics are, neither is she as dark as the spotted black
pic you have.

So here's the pic for critique. http://www.jaz-ink.com/BlackorSlate.jpg

She's a beautiful dark dark grey, but I don't think she's a true
black. What does anyone else think?
