I believe this has been discussed before, but I would like to delve
into the subject a little further.
When the pups were first born, I knew within the first week that one
would be a black. The same dark color overall, with the white snip
under the chin and the white tips to the paws. Well, the pups are now
3 weeks old, and I'm beginning to wonder whether the little one is a
black or a slate. I know slate is less common, but it is possible.
My question is this:
Before the pups molt later on, would a black seem to have slightly
lighter underfur, while the tips of the fur look darker?
While yes, in inadequate lighting, she does look black, every time I
take her out in full light, she has a very "light black/dark grey"
look to her coat.
Or could she have inherited her father's ch, making her:
aaCchE*ggPp (slate)
or
aaCchE*G*Pp (black)?
Would this just make her a variation of Slate? AND/OR a variation of Black?
Father - aaCchE*G*pp (Dove)
Mother - AaC*E*G*P* (Golden Agouti)
Just curious!
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
