Nippy just had 5 new babies. We thought there were only three, but when I tried to pet Nippy she bit me hard. My hand automatically flew up and she flew with it to the other side of the aquarium. Unfortunately, she had been feeding the babies at the time (I hadn't known that) so the babies went flying, too. I think they're alright (I hope). My finger is now bandaged up, but I'll survive. During the fiasco, though, my son and I discovered there was one more baby than we'd counted before.
Oh! I stopped into a vet office this a.m. and they told me of a nearby vet who cares for gerbils - just in case we need him again. -Jean
