we will be posting this on our website soon
please send any additional info you have on how to raise abandoned pups to us privately so we can put all the info on our site
in the future, when this happens-we can refer people to our site for help
thank you all for you patience & dedication to gerbils!
Subject: abandon baby gerbil help
you can purchase a milk replacement for kittens in a petstore
if you cannot buy it, you can make it
mix egg yolks and evaporated milk, a little water
warm it like you would baby's milk
they should be fed with a very small dropper every 4 hours
the milk should be made fresh every time you feed
you must keep them very warm, the father gerbil cannot do it himself
you can put a heat lamp next to the cage or a reptile heating pad/rock
do not aim the heat lamp directly at the cage
the father should take care of the "bathroom" part of it if they are not old enough to go to the bathroom themselves
if he does not clean the bottoms enough, you can do it with a warm, wet, soft paper towel or facial tissue
you should wipe the genital/anal area a few times after you feed them, until they go to the bathroom
be sure they are dry when you put them back in the cage
if they are 18days old their eyes should be open
they should be moving around the cage
they should be trying solid food, but they still need milk
they have a good chance of surviving
if you need more help, please email us!
