The only thing I know about ferrets is second hand. If it wasn't for
the smell (I hear they can get pretty smelly) I would attempt to save
up for one myself. You can get bad ferrets like you can get bad
gerbils. But I have come across and handled a few that a quite tame
and friendly. Even fell asleep in my arms!

I think I would spend some time with them (it? - one or two of em?)
before I would take on the responsibility of caring for it in my own
home. Also, why are they getting rid of the ferret just because they
are getting a dog? If it's a puppy, something could be arranged so
that both animals can live in the same house. Makes me wonder if they
are like another person I know, who constantly goes through a slew of
pets. (Never kills em, they just run away, get kicked out, get given
away, etc.)

I would seriously look into the care of ferrets before I took this
one on. They can demand even more care than gerbils do. :)

Does anyone have ferrets on the list? Some friends of ours are
trying to get rid of it because they are getting a puppy. They said
that we could have it cage and all. we are still trying to decide if
we want it. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. Of
course I could never get rid of my cute little gerbils. Merry
Christmas everyone.

Seasons Greetings,
                               Jake and gerbils :~)
