Hi all,

I just had a polar fox male and female together for a little less than
an hour because the female was in heat and I wanted to get a litter
started. The first about half an hour went normally and the moment I
united them they started their business. After this half an hour the
female started to squeak rather loudly but would still let the male
mount herself several times. Then she refused him and just ran into the
nest box and squeaked so that the male who was still trying to continue
mating and get into the nesting box didn't dare go in. I thought that
she has had it now and lifted her up from the tank and somehow I decided
to check her genitals and they were bloody. Is that dangerous? Was she
squeaking so loud because the mating hurt her? She is 1,5 years old and
has had at least one litter before. She was also squeaking loudly to the
male these couple of evenings before when I have been testing the ground
for her possible heat in a divided cage, so she does seem to be a rather
loud character, too.

Should I do something and has anyone experienced this before? All and
any help is really welcome, thank you in advance!
