Hi everyone!!
I have had gerbils for a while, but just today moved to using a 3 story wire cage. I have a few questions that I need help on answering, please!
1. What kind of material could I put on the wire bottoms to keep the gerbil's feet from being sore? (placemat, cloth shirt, etc.)
2. Sometimes they will use ladders, other times they will just fall (about 7 inches or so), should I worry about this?
3. Just wanting to make sure, is it healthy/safe for the gerbils to chew and gnaw on the metal bars?
4. Will they eventually learn to go UP the ladders? Is there a way I can teach them to?
5. Would it make any difference now to use sand-like kitty litter at the bottom of the cage? See, I am wondering because there is a tray that the bedding/litter sits in, and they cannot reach it to eat it and can only walk on it a tiny bit.
