FWIW, I find .aac a pain in the rear end, simply because my mp3 player ignores them, so I have to fart about transcoding them first.

get_iplayer's .aac files are, admittedly, in a bad or broken container.
That does need fixing, although it should be pretty easy.

Can anyone recommend a Windows tool for converting these AAC files to MP3? I've tried a couple of different converters, but with no joy so far.

Thanks,

Chris

I use WinLame
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winlame/
with an additional aac decoder dll (livfaad2.dll) from
http://www.rarewares.org/aac-decoders.php

It allows you to drag & drop multiple files for conversion.

Cheers,
Mike
