It was supposed to.

The log exceeds the 40kB limit for posts so I haven't included it.

There was enough in earlier post to see that no additional error messages were generated by rtmpdump. Tip for the future: don't push such a huge spew into everyone's inbox. Upload to Pastebin or similar site and post the link.

I'm in Australia and am using Unblock-us. I can access iPlayer from IE
browser, and can use the Iplayer Download program (on Win 8.1) - no problems

iPlayer site working in browser doesn't mean get_player will work.

The consensus here seems to be that BBC is still detecting I'm not in the UK
when using get_player and refusing connection. Would that be a reasonable
assumption??

All the reports to date appear to come from Unblock-us users, so it's possible that they have screwed something up. Until someone tests using a different service and reports the result, there is no way to know. Given the lack of squawks about this, Unblock-us as culprit remains a distinct possibility.
