when you use the getpaid.recipe.release, you don't have to use all the modules available to you. Just grab the ones you need.
I am not sure what getpaid.report does, but I am assuming it is helping you getting some sort of report of the orders on your site. If you don't use it, you can still view the orders on the getpaid admin menu, but it won't be as practical to use.
