If I'm understanding your question correctly, it's quite easy to
change the look of the toolbar, has nothing to do with Cocoa and
little if anything to do with Xcode. Just add the toolbaritems that
you want to a window, and in the window's open event, use this code:
Declare Sub ChangeWindowAttributes Lib "Carbon" (win as
WindowPtr,setAttribs as integer, removeAttribs as integer)
ChangeWindowAttributes self, 2^7 + 2^11 + 2^18, 0
This snippet requires MachO in the Build Settings (change the
"Carbon" to "CarbonLib" if you are compiling for Carbon instead).

Yeah I agree with you I can't do X-Code and I am not good at
understanding declares
I'll use a regular toolbar

I want to use a toolbar like the one used in Apple Mail
the gray toolbar built into the window
is that possible in RB?
Do I need to use a delcare if so what one?
How are you at working in X-Code or understanding Cocoa declares?
Seriously, I think you should stay with frames and toolbar items
that are currently built into Rb without using declares.
