yes my mistake perhaps. I was viewing gforth.ps in kghostviewer, which
doesn't have a search facility. I thought "I'll convert this to pdf with
ps2pdf and search it within acroread" It didn't work (searched 256
pages for "forth" and got nothing)

I assumed the fault was in gforth.ps, but it was probably in my (mis)use
of ps2pdf.
