They can install both 0.5.0 and 0.6.2, if they don't mind the
additional work and the additional disk space.

If you want to decide on one, I would recommend 0.6.2, as it has both
less installation problems and fewer bugs, more features, and more
speed.

gcc-2.95.x is the version I recommend for all versions of Gforth
(gives best speed).

If they want to install 0.5.0 with gcc-2.96 or later on the 386
architecture, they probably need to use --enable-indirect-threaded, and
it's probably best to use the whole line

CC="gcc -fno-gcse" ./configure --enable-force-reg --enable-indirect-threaded

Or they can use the binary package.

Such problems and their workarounds are mentioned in

http://www.complang.tuwien.ac.at/forth/gforth/Known-problems.html

(Note the absence of known problems with 0.6.2).

Use "configure --enable-force-reg" (factor 1.5 or so), gcc-2.95.x
(factor 1.2 or so), and gforth-0.6.2 (factor 2).
