Right, over the years speed has improved (a lot compared to the initial version), but progress is still possible :-) I did a lot of profiling using a large design (leon). I suppose it has only a few non-sensitized processes so this didn't show up. Compared to commercial simulators, GHDL is about 3x slower (from my experiments). Having reports that points out bottlenecks is very useful.
