Well, that did it. Both the default version in FC11 (v0.27) and the binary from the GHDL website work fine. So I guess there was definitely something wrong with my build of GHDL. But since I've got the 0.28 binaries working, I guess my problem is solved. If you are at all interested in exploring why my build is not working, I'd be glad to help out.
