Hallo Salvador,

at the moment I make more discret hardware. I want to go more in the
direction FPGA.
the situation is the same like your postion, I have not the capacity to
purchase software. This is also to expensive for me.

You have much experience with VHDL at low budget projects. GHDL is one
nice tool. Can you decribe what tools do you also use?
For instance I am looking for a good editor. Highlighting is nice but I
need more. Some scripts to make a template or see the port definitions
or other thinks.
Zamia could be one nice tool become but not ready at the moment.

Can you tell and recommend more about your environment tools?
All other can also post.

Best regards

Rene

We use GHDL for development, proprietary tools are too expensive for us,
and we only use Linux, so "Windows only" aren't usable.

      - Any interesting project (educational, scientific, industrial)
where GHDL plays (or has played) a significant role ?

We developed products using GHDL as validation tool, one such a product
is in charge of testing the whole production of baby-milk for the
biggest producer in our country (250 cm³ tetrabricks). We also developed
and validated IP cores for the aero-space industry, using GHDL, the
details are "secret", but these cores were tested controlling a nuclear
reactor (a real one) and the control was designed to be used in space
missions (no need to mention the final user ...). We published various
papers about IP cores development, mostly in spanish, and we always
mention we use GHDL. You can find more information in the FPGALibre site
( http://fpgalibre.sf.net/ ) and our lab's web site:
