TL/DR : if you're not up to building gcc from source, sorry there will be a wait. I knew Wesley was looking into this but I didn't know he gave up from time pressures; he only reported this to Debian, not here. The underlying problem is that Debian Gnat(Ada) is some way behind Debian gcc (4.6.3 intead of 4.7.2 last time I looked) and the Debian Ada maintainer was planning to bring them back into synch for 4.8. Now I don't know where he is with that, but I'll ask. Meanwhile GHDL doesn't build with gcc4.8 yet, though I think I might have that in progress. Then I wouldn't have a clue how to start packaging ghdl for Debian, though at least I might know who to ask. So at the moment, if you want ghdl under debian (which is what I have) the recommended route is to FIRST build gcc4.7.2 - into its own location (perhaps /usr/local/ or /opt/gcc4.7.2/) from the gnu.org source package. (There are a couple of fiddles required to overcome problems with Debian multilibs, which mean a bunch of files aren't where the rompiler expects) THEN use this new compiler to build ghdl from source (SVN revision 150 plus my OSVVM patch). - Brian _______________________________________________ Ghdl-discuss mailing list [email protected] https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/ghdl-discuss
