Maybe [--[no-]merged [<commit>]] instead of [(--merged | --no-merged)
[<commit>]].

Here also you could write something like:

+--[no-]merged [<commit>]::
+       Only list tags whose tips are reachable, or not reachable
+       if --no-merged is used, from the specified commit
+       (HEAD if not specified).
