UC comes with a default catalog that does not need to be set explicitly, so the call should work For some workspaces that were enabled for Unity Catalog automatically, the workspace catalog was set as the default catalog. See [Automatic enablement of Unity Catalog](https://docs.databricks.com/aws/en/data-governance/unity-catalog/get-started#enablement).
