Once I properly enable async, then this PR again is helpful, but not enough to get us back on par with the threaded scanner. On Weston's suggestion I also tried adding readahead to the scanner, but that didn't seem to help and indeed seems to hurt a little.  -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
