Looking at https://github.com/apache/orc/blob/cf720d7b2333618c652445299486cb9600bdbe4f/c%2B%2B/src/Writer.cc#L335-L367, it seems that batch size and stripe size might be 2 different things? (or at least are _meant_ to be two different things based on a reading of that code; it seems you should be able to write for example multiple batches that become fewer stripes; the other way around maybe not).
