### Is your feature request related to a problem or challenge? trim(), ltrim(), and trim() go through the generic std::string machinery (`trim_start_matches` and `trim_end_matches`). However, by far the most common case is to use a trim pattern that consists of a single ASCII character, often a single space (the default behavior).
