Really liked the sketch talk at the @milindsrivastava1997 @alamb I can to help with this too. One thought: before (or alongside) thinking about the buffer physical nodes, could we try to "fuse" common subplans? Something like these: https://github.com/apache/datafusion/pull/23175#issuecomment-4806406668.
