1 - no, it's a refactor to match the other function. A better refactor I
suppose would be to extract that into it's own function and eliminate the
duplicated code.
2 - correct.
Yes, I think that is a reason thing to do. I'll try and do that today once
I'm done hacking async into a UDF I'm working on. I'm hoping #6518 is completed
soonish :)
