Dear GKD Members,

Greetings from Pakistan and ePoor.org!

This is Zubair working with ePoor.org as Project Director.

While Federal Minister for Science and Technology, is actively pursuing
a gigantic task of using IT for development purposes, a good news comes
from the Governemnt of the Punjab (Province) with launching its website
<http://www.punjab.gov.pk>. The site contains information about the
economy, culture, government, cabinet, rules of business 1974, and much
more.

The website says, "Punjab Government may adopt 'SAAF Model' of
E-Government. The model is devised in order to formulate a future
paradigm for a stable and organised government. In its literal meanings,
it connotes, 'transparency and openness', (the two significant
hallmarks of Islamic government). It also echoes the concept of public
participation in the political process and its access to the
information."

SAAF Model is based on the following cardinal features:

S Seamless and Simple

A Accountable

A Accessible

F Fair, Flexible and Fast
