Dear GKD Members,

Please see below for an announcement about Source <www.asksource.info>,
a website offering searchable databases of health, disability and
participatory communication information resources, which was re-launched
last month. Source is an International Information Support Centre
designed to strengthen the management, use and impact of information in
development. Please forward the announcement to interested colleagues or
networks.

Of particular interest to GKD list members might be the new Source 'Key
list' on Using ICTs for development. This list highlights key resources
for building capacity within NGOs to creatively and effectively use
information and communication technologies. The resources will be useful
for people who want to use electronic communication methods for
knowledge management, documentation, facilitating discussions or
networks, promoting an organisation or project, or distributing
publications. The resources give practical and strategic guidance on
using websites, email, databases and online discussions. See
<http://www.asksource.info/res_library/participatory.htm> and select
'Using ICTs for Development'.

We would welcome suggestions of information resources (websites,
manuals, case studies, etc) to include on this list: follow the link
above for information on who to send these to.

Kind regards,

Daphne Kouretas

Highlighting selected and reviewed resources

People interested in health, disability and communication issues
worldwide can search Source's user friendly databases, containing
relevant information resources that have been fed into Source directly
from programmes in developing countries. Read abstracts, locate
distributors, and click on links to full text documents online.

New browsable topic areas are dedicated to disability, inclusion and
development; HIV and AIDS; mother and child health; and participatory
communication, and feature Source's successful Key lists of essential
resources. Key list titles include HIV/AIDS and disability, Nutrition
and development, Communication for social change, Culture and
development, plus many more.

Gathering resources from the places that count

Development practitioners are encouraged to promote their own resources
and contacts by adding them directly to the new site. If suitable their
materials will appear in the following issue of 'What's new in Source',
sent to 2000 key organisations and individuals across the world and
forwarded to many online discussion lists.

What's new in Source

Visitors to <www.asksource.info> can also sign up to receive the
bi-monthly 'What's new in Source' email bulletin, giving them details of
all the latest resources added to Source. If you can't access the Source
website, email <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> to sign up for 'What's new in
Source'.

Supporting resource centres

Resource centres can read or download advice and guidance on all aspects
of setting up and running a resource centre in the new 'Support for
