Let me guess. You went in and said something like this. "I bought these
glasses on the internet, and they don't fit." They were probably nice till
they heard that you got your glasses online...and that's when their tone
changed.

Am I right?

Well...there is no need to lie in situations like this. In fact, be honest
with them...tell them the truth! Just remember, there's no reason they need
to know where you bought them.

It works best if you word it something like this...

"I didn't buy these glasses here...but they're slipping down my nose. Would
you be willing to adjust them for me, please?"

99% of the time, any optical shop will do this, for *any* pair of glasses
that are in good shape. I've had adjustments made at WalMart and Target
Optical, as well as Eyemart Express and a private optician's office. All
universally praised my glasses (Zenni) for being of high quality, and were
delighted to do the adjustments for me, after an appropriate caveat about
not being responsible if anything is damaged.

In fact, during the friendly chit chat, one lady at WalMart found out that I
do IT support...and asked me if I had ever heard about those online eyeglass
places. She'd heard good things...but wasn't supposed to mention them,
while on the clock. :-) I just grinned from ear to ear, gave her the
speech, and the GlassyEyes URL.
