I am posting this in the hope that someone here can help me out.

Let me first preface this by saying that I have been wearing the same
progressive glasses for the last 6 years.

On Feb. 5, I ordered a set of progressive glasses at www.globaleyeglasses.com
and received them on Friday the 13th (maybe that's the problem
<grin>). When I first tried them, it seemed that the distance vision
was "off" and that everything was a bit blurry and everything had a
strange prism effect along it's edges (local pine trees had a
yellowish-red glow along the tops). The intermediate and reading
sections seemed to be OK other than the intermediate corridor being
way to narrow.

Thinking that the optometrist had made a mistake on my script, I took
the glasses to an optician to have them checked against my script.
Not telling them where I got them (just said out of the local area),
they checked the glasses and told me they were spot on except that the
seg height was about 5mm to high, and to try wearing the glasses lower
on my nose (I normally wear them practically touching my eyebrows).
This did not help the distance vision problem, so I made an
appointment with my optometrist again.

The optometrist checked the glasses and said the same about the seg
height. He re-checked my eyes and came up with the same script and
even showed my what my vision "should be like" wearing the glasses.
Not even close. He's not affiliated with any optical shop, (and he's a
tightwad like me<grin>) so I had no qualms telling him where I got
them. He told me that buying progressives online would not be a great
choice as there are certain measurments that change from frame to
frame that the online retailers would not be able to get dead on
because my face and eyes were not taken into account while making the
lenses.

Here is my script:
OD Sph: +0.50 Cyl: -0.75 Axis: 045 Add: +2.25
OS Sph: +0.25 Cyl: -0.50 Axis 133 Add: +2.25
Lenses are 54mm Wide x 37mm High.

I paid extra for the Essilor Varilux Airwear progressive lenses
thinking I would have excellent vision with the better lens. Now I'm
afraid I'm stuck with a pair of glasses I can't wear, and if I get a
refund, I'm out $85 because the lenses were $169.00. I'd rather have
the glasses correct so I can see through them, but if they're correct
except for the seg height, how can I get Global Eyewaer to remake them
and not still have the same problem?

What I can't understand is if just the seg height is off, why can't
wearing them lower on my nose fix the problem?
I drive my car for a living, and can't go the seperate glasses for
distance, reading, etc. route for obvious reasons. But, I can't afford
to go to a B&M shop to get progressives either (especially if I'm
going to lose $$ with a refund through GEG).

If anyone has any ideas how to fix this (or why it's happening), it
would be GREATLY appreciated.

At a loss..
