UPDATE:

Have emailed Alex at GEG and he has agreed to have the lenses remade
for the glasses.

Evidently, something went wrong during processing at the lab or during
grinding at Varilux and what I am experiencing with the color fringing
is called "Lateral Chromatic Aberration". Basically, the different
color waves of light (red, blue.green) are hitting my retina at
different spots instead of at the same spot.

It's sort of like the older rear-projection big screen TVs. If you
didn't get the convergence (lining up the red, blue, and green guns to
the same spot) correct, you'd get a blurry image that had color
fringing (exactly what I was experiencing).
Wish I'd thought of that analogy. Would have made explaining it to my
OD much easier. ;)

Will update when I get the replacement lenses.
