Your post is pretty discouraging. I have similar fears and posted
about them as well. But hopefully your experiences were anomalies. I
just can't believe that these stores would be able to stay open if
their quality of workmanship and the quality of their frames were so
totally shoddy 100% of the time. But really, it's probably a
crapshoot getting glasses wherever you get them, be it online or at a
physical store. Eight years ago I got two pairs on the "bait and
switch" deal from America's Best. To their credit, they have been
very durable over time and have not snapped. The prescription was
also great. However, my metal frame is a little bent in the eyepiece
area on one small section; I assume they had a struggle fitting in the
lens. It's barely noticeable. And my plastic frame, which is the
same one that I tried on in-store, has two different arms. I didn't
notice it in the store but one arm is thicker than the other. They
look the same in terms of color but one is noticeably thicker. So
perhaps you never know what you're going to get when you order glasses
from anyone. I suppose it's just a factor of it being such a custom-
made accessory.
