That sounds really, really complicated. :o) When your son just holds the ruler in front of your eyes and measures your PD himself, just eyeing it up (hahahaha), is that number anywhere close to what you got by Photoshopping? Make sure you don't focus on him when he measures, rather focus on some point in the distance.
