I should add that fooling around with inexpensive online glasses has given me a better sense of what a small change in my (minus/ nearsighted) prescription does, as far as how it affects my distance vision. The main thing a full prescription does is let me read street signs easily. If I'm driving in familiar areas, it doesn't make much difference if I go down about .25 or even .50 with the glasses I'm using. Similar thing for watching TV. I also use weaker glasses for computer use and reading, too, and often don't even wear glasses when I read, even though my full prescription is pretty strong.
But if my vision started changing, I'd want to get a checkup to make sure my eye health was all right. And routine checkups catch problems like glaucoma and retina health issues. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Check us out at the oft-updated http://glassyeyes.blogspot.com!
