your examples illustrates well what may happens with imported STEP files

lines 3, 5, 7, 11 have 0 length and will be meshed, or translated in
the .geo, as such with any mechanical analysis this may lead to very
strange things

surface 2 looks like an hemisphere which as far as i know is an unknown
primitive to Gmsh so a .geo file ignores it

as a general rule imported STEP files [or any other format] needs a bit
of tweaking too be usable unless one meshes right away from the STEP
and the mesh cannot be modified
