Do you plan to make packages from different machines ? The whole point of a version is to identify a snapshot of the source tree in a unique way. If mahine A and B and C all build the same source tree at different times you end up with 3 versions, and even if they have different source tree you still dunno which source tree was earlier, which was latter. The bug was in revno.h not being there properly, or being forcebly overridden.
