So only one is running at a time? I've not seen a setup like that
before, so I'll only be able to provide 'in theory' help.

in that case you might need two xorg.confs and switch between them as
needed...

You have special requirements, you should create an xorg config file.
run `X -configure`, it will create one in your home dir and you can
customise from there.
