I've done this with win98 as well, but with varying success. It /usually/ works, but I think the point is there are no guarantees, and users do so at their own risk. Microsoft does not want to be blamed if it doesn't work for you. Of course, as we all know, it actually is their fault. Linux, for example, has no such problems...
