Indeed. One of the things that is most important, in my mind, to GNHLUG is that we keep things as open as possible. While highly I doubt Ted Roche was trying to be secretive, sending a private message greatly increases the chance that someone will later say "How come nobody told me about this?". It's not to much about "open government" as it is about basic organization; one of our perpetual problems is keeping people informed. The -org list is very low traffic most the time, so far better to post too much then too little.

Exactly right, Ben. The question started out addressed to those folks at the TWikiAdminGroup, as I just wanted to know if there was some switch to flip to turn on RSS, or if I should just tell the original inquirer "Sorry, we tried that and it was not a good idea." In the interests of transparency, I probably should have used the -org list, and will do so in the future.

1. Anyone object to enabling the RSS feed on the TWiki?

I don't, and I don't see how anyone could. The site is not only open for public viewing but public editing; RSS just offers a different format.

Myself, this isn't on my priority list right now. If Ted or someone else wants to try their hand at it, more power to them. Just make a backup first. And always mount a scratch monkey. ;-)

Both excellent ideas. As Bruce indicated, upgrading is not a trivial process and he's tried it before without success. I don't see a compelling reason to do so now. Since the original inquiry was just a casual "Does GNHLUG have an RSS feed?" I'll reply "No, not yet."
