What if we just stay downstairs, eat, drink, swap stories, and enjoy each others company? Kind of like a regular meeting, but without that part in the middle where just one person talks. ;-) > 5. I also don't think we have time to collect pledge amounts, find a function room that's still free and we can afford, then collect money, then book the room. I expect most places will already be booked up at this point. > 8. Who would take responsibility for finding a place? Not me. :) I also advise strongly against any personal expenditures on anyone's part based solely on non-binding pledges from others. If we want to collect money and then book something with cash in hand, that's cool, but somebody paying out in the hopes of being paid back will almost certainly result in financial loss on the payer's part. You have been warned. > 7. Would beer be an absolute necessity? (silly question, I know.) "absolute necessity"? Obviously not. What really matters is what attendees want. If most of the attendees want beer, it makes sense to go to a place like Martha's. We can't answer that here; I'd suggest posting your message to gnhlug-discuss. > 9. I open with a pledge of $30. You'll also reach a much larger audience on gnhlug-dicuss. There are simply not enough people reading gnhlug-org to assemble any useful amount of money. All that said, I'll conditionally match your pledge of thirty dollars, pending satisfactory resolution of all the above. :) -- Ben _______________________________________________ gnhlug-org mailing list gnhlug-org@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-org/
