Yeah, but that doesn't mean I have to like it :-P  I suspect (as Paul suggested)
it was some screwy RPC thing.  Does anybody actually understand RPC?  I know it's
short for Remote Procedure Call, but whats the advantage of RPC? Is it a protocol
like TCP or UDP? or just a service like ftp or telnet?
