Read the fine print. A friend just got an HP printer (I don't
remember the model number, but it's recent, large format, color
printer) that was advertised as handling PostScript. Turns out the
PostScript part comes in the form of an Adobe program, which of course
runs in a Windows client. (I suggested he ask HP or Adobe for the
Linux version. No word on their response yet.) To make matters
worse, you only get the "basic" version of the program. Upgrading to
the full version (which handles other kinds of printers) costs
something like $100.
FWIW, we have been happy with our HP Laserjet 6p. It has no color or
PostScript, though.
