Apache is a not-for profit project. However, according to their FAQ
(www.apache.org) they do accept donations. :-) Although these are not
tax-deductible, they do indicate that "donations can potentially be treated
by companies as a business expense, as part of the cost of doing business,
provided that the business benefits by the continued existence of one or
more of the ASF projects". What you might want to clarify is if the
director is actually looking for a company that can be contracted to provide
support.

My MIS director was asking me if there is a
"commercial version" of Apache Web Server. Since I do
not know the answer to that I told him I would pose
the question to this illustrious group.

                          Regards,
                        Vince McHugh
