A copyleft license is a license that keeps all modifed versions of the program free. The BSD license is a non-copyleft free software license for example, the Affero GPL is a coptleft free software license (that is incompatible with the GPL).
A free software license (this includes copyleft licenses) is just a license that permits a user to excersise the four freedoms.
