I`m just in the process of installing linux. The real interest I have is music notation, and it`s ergonomics.
I have several years experience typesetting sheet music and find that computer programs just don`t cut the mustard when it comes to speed and ergonomic considerations. The problem is the midi interface (in your face), and the computer qwerty and mouse. I`m considering designing a device using modified keyboard destination protocols. If there is any interest from manufacturers in such a project I would be shocked, however I will keep working on its algorithm and post it on web sights that will make it freely available in keeping with the linux philosophy.

A friend in music.
