Hello,

I've just started using LilyPond (1.1.37 on Red Hat Linux i386) to
typeset some simple piano music of mine. Everything works great, but
there are certain things that I can't figure out how to do. There are
two big things:

First, I'd like to put tempo markings ("Allegro (<dotted quarter note>
= 120)") above the score (piano/grand staff) in certain places. It
seems that there is no official way of doing this -- how do people do
it right now?

Second, I'd like to put expressive markings right in the *middle* if
the treble and bass staves. This includes absdynamics like "mf",
spandynamics like \< ... \!, and (once again) arbitrary text such as
"legato". In some cases, I would also like the absdynamics symbol to
be flush right with respect to the note to which it is attached.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to typeset a "note" that is not engraved
into a notehead and a beam as usual, but that is engraved by running
some arbitrary (user-specified) TeX code *at* the location where the
note would have been engraved. This way I can do pretty much
everything I want, including the two items listed above.

Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance.
