It would be best to try giving it the proper height and see what
happens: either your problem is fixed and no real bad things happen
in other examples, or you can replace the non-informative comment
by something more useful: 'if spanner has height, these cases are
ugly: ...'.

It seems best, though, to specify the height of a symbol, and if
this makes something look ugly, fix that somewhere else.
