Compliing lily (yet another...)

OK, I've written my changes to chord.hh, chord.cc, and chord-modifiers.ly,
recompiled (doing a make clean, make, make install) and now lilypond dies
with a segmentation fault.  Rather cryptic--is there any way to get lily to
tell me more explicitly what is going wrong (it worked before I made my
mods)?

BTW, the changes are looking good--now if I could only get the thing to
work!
