I'm trying to use curved lines to say where syllables attach to notes.

In this case, the syllable starts on the first d, and ends on the
second d, as indicated by the slur requests.

        a2 d,4 ( \grace { [e16 ) d16]} cis8 d
   ... te lan--------------------------guish il

Lilypond 1.2.15 starts a slur then can't find its end.

If I leave off the slur it's not obvious whether the `guish' syllable
starts on the e or on the cis.

This is what's stopping me submitting `Caro Mio Ben' to Mutopia. Can
it be fixed? Is there a workaround?
