I've never heard of fpTeX--I always thought that MiKTeX was the definitive
TeX for WinXX platforms... And it doesn't use kpathsea, but uses its own
internal config files (which is a bit of an end run around kpathsea). I'm
still unclear as to *why* lily needs to know where cmr10.tfm lives, since
MiKTeX seems to be able to find it on its own...
